No, you are supposed to do that.  That’s how rules work.  Someone says, “Hey this is how we do a thing,” and then you do it that way.  Like two spaces after a period.  Just like that.

When I studied journalism, it pained me to follow AP Stylebook guidelines of a single space after a period. But I did it, and liked it.

Once you go singlespaceafteraperiod-ack, you never go back.
